Everything you need to know about FlashAttend

No. FlashAttend never stores raw student photos as the basis for attendance matching. The system converts a face scan into a mathematical embedding (a vector representation), and that encrypted embedding is what is securely stored and compared for attendance events.

Yes. FlashAttend is designed to support DPDP Act 2023 aligned operations, with institutions acting as Data Controllers and FlashAttend operating as a Data Processor based on authorized usage. For minors, schools are expected to follow institution-level parent or guardian consent and notice workflows as per applicable policy.

Reliable internet connectivity is required for cloud sync and AI-powered facial matching. If connectivity is unstable, teachers can still use manual override to mark attendance and maintain continuity until normal sync resumes.

FlashAttend currently supports Android devices through a Kotlin-based app experience. iOS support is in progress and will be released soon. For best stability and camera performance, Android 9 or above is recommended.

FlashAttend uses a trained AI matching pipeline with high practical accuracy under normal classroom lighting and enrollment quality. Accuracy can vary based on lighting, camera angle, and motion. Teachers remain the final authority and can always confirm or override attendance decisions.

Data is protected using AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS 1.3 in transit. FlashAttend is built on Firebase and GCP infrastructure with secure cloud practices, access controls, and institution-specific segmentation to reduce risk.
